V Beam Laser

V Beam Laser

The Vbeam is one of the most popular lasers in our practice.  It is an advanced pulsed dye laser that acts to decrease evidence of age, decrease fine lines and wrinkles and sun damage. The Vbeam uses an intense beam of light, delivered in long pulses, to gently remove unwanted, damaged, or diseased cells without harming the surrounding healthy cells. The light is absorbed by the blood vessels in the dermis. These blood vessels are reabsorbed by the body, allowing for a cleaner, more refreshed appearance.

What lesions do Dr. Day and her associates use the Vbeam to treat?
Facial veins
Leg veins
Sun damage
Hypertrophic scars
Red birthmarks
Rosacea
Angiomas
Wrinkles
Stretch marks
Warts

Integrated Dynamic Cooling Device
The integrated Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) emits a short spray of cryogen onto the skin, milliseconds before each laser pulse, minimizing the thermal effect on the superficial layers of the skin without affecting underlying targeted structures. Essentially, this results in a greater comfort for patients during treatment.
By selectively cooling the epidermis, while leaving the underlying target at normal temperatures, the DCD minimizes thermal injury, pain, and the risks associated with anesthesia without decreasing the effectiveness of the laser treatments.

What results should you expect?
Most patients will see improvement in their vascular and pigmented lesions.  The improvement can be quite dramatic, although results may vary.  Dr. Day and her associates will evaluate you to determine if that Vbeam is the right treatment for you.

Is the treatment safe?
It is extremely safe. There are no major side effects. Side effects may include purpura, redness and swelling in the treated area. These are very rare and only occur with aggressive treatments and usually do not last more than a few days.

What precautions should be taken before and after treatment with the V-beam?

Dr. Day and her associates recommend avoiding sun-exposure for 1-2 days after treatment with the V-beam. A sunblock should be used at all times.
