Soft Tissue Fillers

When soft -tissue fillers first became available, aesthetic physicians had only an animal form of collagen available, called zyderm and zyplast. Skin tests were required to minimize the risk of treating anyone who might be allergic to the substance, and the product typically lasted about 3 months. These were used as fillers, mostly around the mouth to actually fill in lines and creases.

The exciting news is that over the past ten years there has been an impressive array of new FDA- approved products that have become available that not only fill lines and wrinkles, but actually help re-contour, rejuvenate, volumize and restore the face, and even other areas of the body such as the hands, to a natural more youthful appearance without going under the knife.The new products do not require skin testing, have much greater longevity, and are very safe when performed by properly trained dermatologists.
