How Restylane Is Utilized
The function of restylane is to add volume where it is needed, i.e. where the body's own hyaluronic acid has been depleted or when creating volume in the cheeks, chin and lips. The implant does not swell after injection, but it adds more water as it degrades. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water each molecule is able to bind. The result is that the same volume can be maintained with less implant material. Finally the implant is fully degraded and reabsorbed, leaving the tissue without any scarring or implant waste.
Restylane products are based on a hyaluronic acid from one single family of bacteria that is harmless to humans and effectively removed once it has produced its material. It stays identical year after year, thus ensuring the safety of the product. As it is free from animal substances and toxins the risk of transmitting diseases from other species is completely eliminated. Furthermore, there is no risk of common allergic reactions from meat, chicken or eggs.
As an added safety measure, restylane is also sterilized after final packaging and is therefore absolutely sterile.
Restylane to lips and nasolabial folds
Long Lasting
Most patients have the feeling that after 6-12 months they need another correction. With lips most come in for their next treatment at about 6 months.
The Treatment
Smoothing lines, wrinkles and folds:
Fine superficial lines, wrinkles or deep folds can now be effectively treated. For the correction of very thin, superficial lines Restylane Fine Lines is an excellent choice. For more pronounced wrinkles that go deeper in the skin, Restylane is recommended. Perlane is excellent for deep folds.
Shaping the contours of the face:
When creating volume in the contours of the face or correcting hollow cheeks, use Perlane or restylane are generally used. It lifts up the skin from the cheeks and chin by adding volume in the deeper layers of the skin.
Lip Sculpting
Lips can be perfectly sculpted with the Restylane products. Fuller lips, a more pouting look or enhancement of the lip border can all be achieved. The area around the lips may also be treated for an optimal look. Some kind of anesthesia is generally neccessary in connection with lip augmentation. This is achieved most effectively by a nerve block or by local anesthesia.
